Zev did not often have a reason to visit Pacifidlog, the sleepy, seaborne town dwelling far outside his interests. However, Team Rocket had ties to the place. When pirates began attacking Pacifidlog's fishing vessels, upper brass deemed it necessary to defend the locals.[break][break]

And so they sent Zev, along with his fellow Beast, bryan delarosa.[break][break]

They waited aboard one of the boats of the main fishing fleet, surrounded by the back-and-forth call of the workers. The smell of brine and fish filled Zev's nose, a slightly revolting aroma. He ignored it, as well as the slight lurch of his stomach whenever a wave shoved the boat hard.[break][break]

"Intel says the pirates have three or four boats and tend to focus fire on the fishing boat farthest from others," Zev said to Bryan, reminding him of the mission briefing. "That's us, right now."[break][break]

He ran fingers over the Pokéballs at his belt. Each Pokémon in them had an advantage in an aquatic battle, either due to their typing or the ability to fly.[break][break]

Zev looked at Bryan. "What's our plan?"

He just finished digging for gold in his nose as Zev's question stirs him from the peaceful day dream he was having. "Fuck if I know." he chuckles. [break][break]

He never really planned things out, his instincts was how he would survive and get by in this godforsaken world. [break][break]

"I'm just gonna be my usual self. Wailord, mist." as the wolf began to set up his hunting grounds, he stands up and rolls his neck. "And by my usual self, I'm gonna hunt them all down one by one." he says as he leaps onto his wailord and the mist starts to cover a large area obscuring their sights. [break][break]

The boat suddenly shakes, as if something heavy landed on it before suddenly panic erupts on board and the wailord rushes that same pirate boat and rushes it shaking the entire vessel as bryan's laughter can be heard in the air and the sounds of clamoring.

After working with the other Beast for so long, Zev was not surprised by Bryan's answer. Nor was he surprised by the appearance of the Wailord and Bryan's disappearance into the rapidly thickening mist.[break][break]

Through the rolling fog, Zev spied three pirate vessels and guessed Bryan would aim for one of them. That left the hitman with his choice between the other two.[break][break]

Zev released his Sharpedo into the ocean, then hopped over the fishing boat's railing to land on the shark's back. "First one at ten o'clock," he ordered, pointing.[break][break]

Then he held on as the Sharpedo sped toward her target.[break][break]

As they neared the ship, Zev picked out a second Pokéball. "Attack the hull with CRUNCH," he instructed his Water-type before opening the capsule. His Gengar emerged in a cascade of shadow.[break][break]

"Up, Smoke! Onto the ship!" Zev hissed. The ghost's PHANTOM FORCE brought him and his master onto the deck, just as Sharpedo rammed into the steel hull, tearing a hole into it.[break][break]

All around Zev, the pirates shouted with alarm.

Suddenly the sound of a pokeball clicks and Bryan shouts as the sound of metal slams into something. The force from the strike clears up the mist and it becomes evident of what happen. [break][break]

A tinkaton just slammed bryan with gigaton hammer into the air. "Shit!" he says as his grimmsnarl emerges from the pokeball, landing on the same boat as Zev Harcourt and uses his tendrils of hair and grabs onto bryan. The hull busts open and the ship starts taking in water, in the clammor bryan lands on the floor and rolls a bit. [break][break]

He gathers himself and stands up quickly as blood covered his forehead but the wound was already gone and the blood already dries up. He looks over behind zev and spots that same tinkaton trying to slam into zev from behind and Bryan comes to the man's aid. [break][break]

He knew zev could take the hit, it was out of character for Bryan to defend someone. Was he warming up to zev? [break][break]

he punches against the hammer pushing it back "Hartcourt!" he says even acting more out of character and asking for help from his friend.

The pirate ship bucked and rocked as it took on water through the hole ripped open by Zev's Sharpedo. He ran along the deck with his Gengar, fighting pirates hand-to-hand as the ghost attacked their Pokémon. Black crystal coated Zev's skin from head to toe.[break][break]

Bryan's sudden and bloody appearance surprised the hitman. "Finished with the other boat already?" Zev asked, unable to see it through the mist.[break][break]

But the other Beast was at his side in a flash, using his tremendous strength to deflect a Tinkaton's hammer that had been barreling at Zev from behind. He blinked, confused. Had Bryan come to defend him?[break][break]

Why?[break][break]

"I'm fine," Zev said, his brusque tone devoid of all gratitude. Turning, he saw a pirate level a pistol at Bryan's back and fire.[break][break]

Thinking quickly, Zev stepped into the bullet's trajectory. He grunted as the projectile slammed into his shoulder. The impact caused him to stumble backward a step, but he was getting used to the feeling of taking shots. He recovered quickly.

He tries to maintain his bravado despite the fact that tinkaton was the literal spawn of satan "Nah I just figured I'd love some food for you ya know? Gotta make sure you earn your keep. Your welcome." the effects of hanging out with priam conrad for so long bleed into his speech. [break][break]

He eventually manages to pick up the tinkaton's hammer, lifting the pokemon as it grabbed onto it's precious hammer for dear life and bryan spins to build up momentum, releasing the hammer in the direction of the pirate who just fired at Zev. [break][break]

"These fuckers really have an old flint lock pistol? Holy shit are they fucking cosplaying??" he complains as the pirates collide with the tinkaton. "Morgan!" he says as he snaps his fingers as suddenly the pokemon temporarily mega evolves to enact it's z-move Memento mori. [break][break]

It launches it's tendrils of hair towards the tinkaton, shoving it forward as it pierces the hull of the ship and begins to absorb the tinkaton's health and attaches the other tendril of hair and sends the energy to bryan to speed up his healing. [break][break]

"Thanks for the save." he says as he tries to force it out. He hated to admit that he needed help but it was just him and zev here, everyone else would die.

The boat Zev and Bryan were standing on bucked and rocked as it began to capsize. Metal shrieked as Zev's Sharpedo tore another chunk out of the hull.[break][break]

"This one's done!" Zev shouted as he grabbed the railing to prevent from falling into the sea. "My Sharpedo will take care of any pirates that fall into the water."[break][break]

Right on cue, one of them tumbled into the churning waves with a scream and a splash. Blossoms of red unfurled, mixing with the ocean's blue.[break][break]

"Two more boats. You get one, I get the other. Let's make it quick," he said to Bryan before his Gengar sucked them into the phantom plane.[break][break]

In the blink of an eye, Zev and Smoke were on another deck. The hitman tapped the Key Stone on his wristwatch, triggering his Gengar's mega evolution. His SHADOW TAG ability activated, preventing the pirates and their Pokémon from fleeing.[break][break]

And then he opened his massive maw and unleashed G-MAX TERROR on them all.

Bryan whistles as Zev suddenly vanishes onto the other boat. His waillord emerges again and jumps into the air as it uses BOUNCE to slam into the last boat and attempts to snap the ship in half. [break][break]

The ship is cleaved into two, men scramble into the water to avoid the flames from the explosions on the ship, unaware of Zev Harcourt's sharpedo lurking around for snacks as Wailord jumps in and consumes them whole. [break][break]

Bryan look around with the destruction the two wrought, this is why they were beasts, the amount of pain they inflicted onto others tonight was a prime example of why they held the status in rocket they did. However, something felt wrong inside of bryan, was this all he wanted?

While Bryan's Wailord turned the second boat into wreckage, Zev's Gengar turned the third into a ghost ship.[break][break]

He whistled, and another PHANTOM FORCE brought him, his Gengar, and Bryan back to the local fishing vessel they'd started on. Smoke's mega evolution ended, allowing him to return to his normal size.[break][break]

"That's it," Zev said, surveying the carnage. Below them, a dark fin cut through the water—his Sharpedo. In a flash of light, he recalled the Water-type back into her Pokéball.[break][break]

After a quick word with the fishing fleet's captain, Zev rejoined Bryan's side on the deck.[break][break]

"I'm going to head back to Sootopolis. Come along if you want." A pause. "And thanks for earlier."
